Walter Bond
Walter Bond knows first hand how setting goals can help you achieve greatness. At an early age he had a dream to play in the NBA against such greats as Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson. Walter's athletic abilities and determination eventually led him to eight-year professional basketball career, where he played for the Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons. When Walter became the owner of a national franchise, he learned that the same attitude needed in athletics is also an asset in the business environment. As a speaker, Walter now shares his life long lessons on dealing with issues such as planning, dominating your market, vision, and work life balance.
John N. Davis
John N. Davis is in his twenty-third year as president of NCFREE, a non-partisan, political research organization. He is also the editor and senior political analyst for the Almanac of North Carolina Politics, a 750-page book of political facts and figures published each election cycle. Davis is best known for his campaign forecasting ability. During the four elections of this decade, he correctly projected the winner in 751 of 780 campaigns, for an accuracy rate of 97%.
Tom Dorety
Tom Dorety is president/CEO of Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union in Tampa, Florida, and chairman of the board of directors for Credit Union National Association (CUNA). He became CEO at Suncoast in 1996 after serving as a senior vice president for 8 years. Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union is the seventh largest credit union in the U.S. with over $5 billion in assets and over 390,000 members. Previously he spent 13 years at State Employees' Credit Union in North Carolina.
James Flores
James Flores is co-founder and president of Subcat, a marketing and design agency that helps credit unions reach subcategories of the general population including youth, young adult and Spanish-language markets. James has over 16 years experience in the financial services industry, with numerous marketing and advertising awards to his credit. Prior to starting Subcat, he was vice president, marketing services for Liberty, where he oversaw the development of their youth marketing programs, boom! and Planet M. He began his credit union career at Beckman Employees Credit Union as a marketing communications specialist. He also worked for White & Cromer Public Relations, with accounts such as Ocean Pacific and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles apparel.

Bob Hoel, PhD
Bob is Filene fellow in residence at the Filene Research Institute, a nonprofit research and innovation organization. Filene is the credit union industry's award-winning "think and do tank" for credit union and consumer finance issues. A popular speaker worldwide, Bob frequently speaks about credit union challenges and opportunities at meetings of credit union leaders, regulators, and auditors. He has spoken at conferences and conventions in all 50 states and in Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and South America. Prior to becoming Filene's executive director in 1991, Bob was a professor of business and chairman of the department of marketing at Colorado State University, where he received the "Outstanding Business Professor Award" on three separate occasions. While at Colorado State, he served as chairman of the board of Norlarco Credit Union. Currently, he is a member of the national examining committee for the Certified Credit Union Executive program.
John Moreno
John Moreno is the director of institutional managed account programs for MEMBERS Capital Advisors, an affiliate of CUNA Mutual Group. John is responsible for client acquisition, service of existing accounts, and ensuring a consistent approach to providing institutional investment services to clients. Since joining CUNA Mutual in 2000, John has directly served member needs as a financial services representative and institutional clients as director of client services and marketing. John has more than 10 years of experience in the investment industry. He began his investment career with Paulson Investment Company in Tucson, Arizona. He has also held positions with Morgan Stanley and Fifth Third Securities Corporation. He is a sought-after speaker at credit union-focused events and has contributed to the trade press numerous times on the topic of investment management.
Steven W. Rick
Steve is a senior economist for Credit Union National Association. He conducts economic research, teaches at various credit union schools and conferences, and writes articles for CUNA publications. Steve facilitates strategic planning sessions for credit union boards and has authored a textbook on asset-liability management. Steve is also a faculty member of the economics department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
